Ages of Speed is an upcoming racing game, which will feature a unique look with its cartoon styling. The game is being built using the Unity game engine. Underneath the game is promoted by the developers as going to feature simulation grade physics, detailed tracks and car models, comprehensive damage model, and a “true ownership” model where players truly feel the weight of purchasing, upgrading, and maintaining their race cars.
The choice to use the Unity engine is one that makes us believe this game will be a bit more on the sim-light side, as the more hardcore sim racing titles currently in development are either using their own game engine or Unreal Engine 5. Another cause for concern is that this game is being developed by Chris and Tony West, who have historically been involved with vaporware projects, such as World Sports Cars and Racing Legends, which were never released.
The choice to mix cartoon visuals with accurate sim physics is interesting, and we look forward to seeing the end result. Currently, Ages of Speed appears to be focusing on the 1930s through the mid-1970s. These time periods have an excellent selection of cars and tracks that Ages of Speed can incorporate into their own game. It has been announced that Ages of Speed will include the following content:
TRACKS:
- 1930s Opel Rennbahn
- 1937 Brooklands
- 1960s Stardust Raceway
- 1960s Bridgehampton
CARS:
- 1930s Austin 7 Special
- 1933 Napier Railton
- 1953 Ferrari 625 Sportscar
- 1968 Ford P68 Sportscar
- 1971 Ferrari 312B2 F1
- 1975 Brabham BT44
